A double-faced and curiously hypnotic collection of schizophrenic trap that is reforming the current state of rap itself, whether its listeners like it or not.
Thankfully bands like Grass is Green are left behind as reminders of what power these scenes hold.
By being more cryptic, the project entices the listener to figure things out for themselves, and spiral along with the protagonist as the buzzing hurdy gurdy on “Pulldrone” scrubs the inside of their cranium.
We dove deep into the past, present, and future; the foundations the Boston Gabbers is built upon; and the direction she hopes to see things go.
Elverum’s music serves as a reminder that we are alive. What truly matters in life is so often drowned out by the daily grind, by rote repetition—“this endless et cetera.”
