The Underground Sound of Emerson College
Under the screeches of the tracks and the voice on the monitor announcing the next arrival, Bostonians put their earbuds in and prepare for their underground travels. On a regular Saturday, various unsuspecting people kindly paused their music for me to chat them up about it.
On Feb. 25th, 2022 Exit 18, Oddysseys and Godcaster played at the Tourist Trap in Allston.
Every inch of the concrete walls are covered in doodles, illustrating the past few years of the Tourist Trap’s contribution to the Boston underground music scene. David Staats, guitarist of My Green Bananas, has just scribbled the band’s place onto the wall.
Last week, I visited The Bebop music venue’s weekly open mic to try and catch a glimpse of what the true underground up and coming music scene is looking like in Boston, Massachusetts.
Inside the upscale City Winery’s restaurant is the Haymarket Lounge; a dimly lit venue with a cool ambience that helps the crowded room feel much more spacious. The show attracted a diverse audience, including family members of the performers, their close friends, and students from all over the Boston area showing up to support their peers.

The subjects of these profiles were all discovered through stickers they left in concert venue bathrooms, a tactic they all claim was practically second nature.
