Album Review

At times, this feels more like a conversation between friends than an EP to be released for millions to enjoy.

The sound of the ‘80s flows through each album and a darker new wave sound finds its way into their newest project.

To put it plainly: these cats are cookin’!

Primarily known as Billie Eilish’s brother and producer, Finneas Baird O’Connell – or mononymously known as FINNEAS – released his sophomore album For Cryin’ Out Loud on October 4th. He finds himself on this album comfortable in a spotlight of his own. 

Older speaks to me. It’s so beautifully universal; everyone is constantly growing older, constantly experiencing life. Everyone can feel the story McAlpine has to tell.

It is remarkable how Lady Gaga can reinvent these American classics into something that is so quintessentially her. Harlequin is a spectacle; boisterous, yet vulnerable, beautiful, yet utterly insane.

In a time where country music records have dozens of songs that deter fans from listening once they hit track 30 (Morgan Wallen, great albums–cut 20 songs please), it’s refreshing to see that Billy Strings can craft 20 great songs with help from a producing legend.

 Once Xiu Xiu’s got their talons in you, they’re certainly not letting go.
